Amazing Donation!

In late December 2010, the Board was contacted by individuals who request anonymity, that they had stock they would like to donate to the Foundation. Thanks to Jay Harris and Michele Kaiser, our financial advisor, we were able to accept the stock and bring the transaction to a conclusion before Dec. 31. The gift is valued at approximately $8,700 and will be earmarked for Childrens ' Programming.

This is a reminder that people can donate cash or stocks, purchase an annuity or life insurance, all to be given to the Library Foundation. This is a gift that not only supports the library, but gives tax benefits to the donor. Please look at the “support us” tab at our website or contact us for more information.

Leadership Changes

At the December 2010 meetings of the Foundation Board, the following people were voted into leadership positions:
  • President, Brenda Bajdek Slomski
  • Vice President, Wayne Welch
  • Secretary, Jill Armstrong
These officers, along with Treasurer Jay Harris, will hold office until our July 2011 elections. We are confident that this board and its officers will make great strides in the goals of the Foundation.

Introducing Vine 2 Wine

On Saturday, April 23, 2011, the Foundation will be holding its first annual Vine 2 Wine wine tasting event. Not only will 10 local wineries be allowing us to sample their vintages, but we will be treated to a talk by Dr. Scott Burns, professor of Geology at Portland State. Dr. Burns, a Tualatin resident, will speak what makes the geology, soils, and climate of the northern Willamette Valley so unique and how it affects the wines.

The event will be from 7 – 9:30 pm and will include refreshments, entertainment, and some chances to win amazing door prizes. The cost is $35.00 per person. Tickets are available at West Coast Bank in Tualatin, Umpqua Bank in Tualatin, the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce, or on www.tix.com.
